The Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) is the federal grant funder, which provides a portion of the cost that supports this program at SRIV.
Washington County RSVP’s mission:
1. To ensure that our aging neighbors 55 plus remain engaged in our communities, providing them with meaningful service opportunities that help them to make in a difference in the lives of individuals and our communities. Volunteers use the skills and talents they have mastered during their lifetime and careers to make a difference for others.
2. The Washington County RSVP substantially supports SRIV’s Independent Aging Services by providing assistance for Healthy Futures including Aging in Place and Access to Care. Frail, home-bound, low-income seniors and adults (55 plus) with disabilities are provided help that enables them to live independently by providing those services that allow them to remain in their homes with choice, safety and dignity in aging.
3. To provide local nonprofits and community agencies with a network of senior volunteers who will use their skills to support the needs of Washington County residents including children, seniors and Veterans.
4. The Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) is the federal agency that provides grant funds across the nation for area RSVP (Retired Senior Volunteer Program) programs. SRIV receives a portion of the cost to support the Washington County RSVP program for the southern third of Rhode Island.
